Nadir Shah, founder of the Iranian Afsharid dynasty, ruled a territory from the Caucasus to the Indus River. His reign lasted from 1736 to 1747. He invaded India and defeated a six-times larger Mughal army at the Battle of Karnal in 1739. Tiflis (Tbilisi) is inscribed on the following coin of Nadir Shah as a testimony to his rule over the present capital of Georgia, Tbilisi.
